The Firth of Clyde and Inner Hebrides cruises on Stormdancer start from our base at Troon which is best known for its golf courses and as a holiday destination. The marina is close to Prestwick airport, the fast ferry service from Belfast and motorway connections from across Scotland and England.
We are at the gateway to the Firth. We can go north into the largest sheltered sailing area in Europe, or west to round the Mull of Kintyre.
Guests on our Firth of Clyde cruises and weekend breaks can enjoy exciting sailing and spectacular scenery in Loch Fyne or Kilbrannan Sound, quiet anchorages on the islands of Arran or Bute and visits to historic towns such as Inveraray or Campbelltown.

“Brandy of Troon” originates most of her cruises from Largs Yacht Haven which is further north than Troon and closer to Glasgow airport. Largs provides quick access to the fine sailing around Cumbrae, the Kyles of Bute and Arran as well as towards Holy Loch and Glasgow itself.

On the Inner Hebrides or Firth of Clyde Milebuilder cruises we head round the Mull of Kintyre, taking care to time our passage with the tide. Near the Mull we may stop at the small island of Sanda, home to what must be one of the more remote pubs in the British Isles, before continuing to the beautiful Isle of Gigha with its sub-tropical gardens and welcoming hotel.
A week can be well spent exploring the islands (and distilleries) of Islay and Jura and the sheltered lochs of the Sound of Jura.
The more adventurous can sail further north, taking advantage of the strong tides of Corryvreckan and the Sound of Luing, to the southern coast of Mull before a long overnight passage back to Troon.

The whole sailing area is a wildlife paradise. We see dolphins, porpoises, seals, basking sharks, whales, sea otters, eagles, sea eagles, guillemots, puffins, auks, skuas, cormorants, shags, oyster catchers, fulmars – the list goes on. Sightings are unpredictable but exciting when they happen.

Ashore, as well as nesting birds, we see deer, many different flowers, empty beaches, rocky shores, ancient castles and even sub-tropical gardens.

When sailing we are harnessing the force of nature and feel more at one with the flora and fauna of this beautiful region.
